To celebrate the 12th anniversary of the Faculty of Pharmacy and the 49th anniversary of the Pharmacy Department, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) held a series of activities on Sunday and Monday (September 2–3) at the Faculty of Pharmacy, USU. The event was attended and officially opened by the Rector of USU, Prof. Dr. Runtung Sitepu, S.H., M.Hum., and took place in the second-floor auditorium of the Faculty of Pharmacy.
The Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Prof. Dr. Masfria, M.S., Apt., stated that at its 12th year, the Faculty of Pharmacy has made significant progress. These include new facilities, such as a competency test room, the construction of a gazebo for student gatherings, and improvements to laboratories with additional equipment.
Academically, the Faculty of Pharmacy currently has five study programs, three of which are accredited A. The other two programs, the Master's Program (S-2) and Doctoral Program (S-3), are accredited B. Furthermore, two programs at the Faculty of Pharmacy, namely the Bachelor of Pharmacy Program and the Pharmacist Professional Program, have received ISO 9001:2015 certification from the British Standard Institute. The Bachelor of Pharmacy Program achieved a Gold category, while the Pharmacist Professional Program achieved Silver.
Prof. Dr. Masfria, M.S., Apt., also appreciated the achievements of the student team from the Faculty of Pharmacy, which won the Best Invention Award at the 29th International Invention, Innovation & Technology Exhibition 2018 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This year, the Faculty of Pharmacy also sent 11 students to participate in a student exchange program with Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and welcomed five students from Morocco, Egypt, the Netherlands, and Malaysia.
As part of the 49th-anniversary activities, the Faculty of Pharmacy USU also organized various events, including a fun walk, free health check-ups, blood donation drives, community service, and a scientific lecture. All events were conducted successfully and enthusiastically.
