USU FACULTY OF PHARMACY PR — The Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), welcomed an academic visit from Assyifa School Banda Aceh Health Vocational School on Friday, November 14, 2025, at 09:00 a.m. WIB. The activity was centered in the First Floor Auditorium of the Faculty of Pharmacy, which served as the venue for the opening session and the starting point of the visit agenda. The group of students and accompanying teachers attended to broaden their knowledge and understanding of the educational process, practical learning, and career opportunities in the field of pharmacy.
A warm welcome was extended by faculty representatives, who presented an overview of the program structure, learning systems, and various academic and research achievements of the Faculty of Pharmacy, USU. During the session, students were introduced to how the university conducts comprehensive pharmacy education — from basic theoretical foundations and laboratory skills to clinical practice. The agenda was designed to give students firsthand insight into the academic world of pharmacy, address their questions about career pathways, and inspire them to pursue higher education.
After the presentation session, the activity continued with a laboratory tour, which was the most anticipated part of the visit. The group explored several laboratories, including the Pharmaceutics Laboratory, Pharmaceutical Chemistry Laboratory, Pharmaceutical Biology Laboratory, and other research facilities. In each laboratory, students were welcomed by lecturers and laboratory technicians who provided detailed explanations about scientific instruments, analytical procedures, pharmaceutical formulation, and natural product research. Simple demonstrations were also conducted, giving students a direct experience of how medicines are formulated, tested, and evaluated for quality.
The visit not only introduced students to an academic environment but also provided opportunities for them to interact directly with teaching staff. Many students expressed excitement and curiosity about the laboratory instruments they had previously only seen in books or online. Accompanying teachers from Assyifa School Banda Aceh Health Vocational School expressed gratitude for the visit, noting that it was highly beneficial in strengthening students’ career orientation, especially for those interested in pursuing healthcare or pharmacy studies.
The USU Faculty of Pharmacy emphasized that this visit reflects the institution’s commitment to supporting human resource development in the health sector. Through interactive and hands-on experiences, the faculty aims to foster learning motivation and expand students’ understanding of health sciences, pharmacy, and scientific research.
