HUMAS FARMASI USU – The Doctoral Program in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Sumatera Utara once again conducted a Doctoral Promotion Examination (Open Session) for the Even Semester of the 2025/2026 Academic Year on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, starting at 14:00 WIB until completion at the IMT-GT Room, 2nd Floor, BPA Building USU. This academic activity forms part of efforts to enhance the quality of higher education and research development in pharmaceutical sciences and healthcare services.
During the open session, doctoral candidate Peri presented a dissertation entitled “Development of Interprofessional Collaboration Standards Based on Medication Therapy Management and Its Effects on Clinical Outcomes and Costs for End-Stage Renal Disease Patients.” The research discussed the development of healthcare collaboration standards based on Medication Therapy Management (MTM) to improve the quality of healthcare services for end-stage renal disease patients, including its impact on clinical outcomes and treatment cost efficiency.
The doctoral promotion examination was chaired by Ir. Ikhsan Siregar, S.T., M.Eng., Ph.D. as the session chair. During the examination process, the candidate was supervised by a promoter team consisting of Prof. Khairunnisa, S.Si., M.Pharm., Ph.D., Apt. as the main promoter, along with Prof. Asrul Akmal Safie, B.Pharm., PG Dip Health Econ., Ph.D. and Prof. Yuandani, S.Farm., M.Si., Ph.D., Apt. as co-promoters.
The doctoral examination also involved an examining committee consisting of Dr. apt. Sahat Saragih, M.Si.; Dr. apt. Dadang Irfan Husori, M.Sc.; and Dr. Aminah Dalimunthe, S.Si., M.Si., Apt. The examiners provided scientific feedback and evaluations regarding the research findings presented by the doctoral candidate.
Research on the development of interprofessional collaboration standards based on Medication Therapy Management is considered to have significant contributions to improving healthcare service quality, particularly for end-stage renal disease patients who require long-term therapy and monitoring. Collaborative approaches among healthcare professionals are expected to enhance treatment effectiveness, reduce the risk of medication errors, and improve healthcare cost efficiency for patients.
The implementation of this doctoral promotion examination also reflects the commitment of the Faculty of Pharmacy USU to producing doctoral graduates who are highly competent, innovative, and capable of making meaningful contributions to the advancement of science and healthcare services. In addition, this academic activity further strengthens the culture of research and multidisciplinary collaboration within Universitas Sumatera Utara.
This activity is also aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 3: Good Health and Well-Being through improving healthcare quality, Goal 4: Quality Education through strengthening higher education and scientific research, Goal 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure through the development of innovation in healthcare systems, and Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals through strengthening interprofessional collaboration in healthcare and academia.
