Medan, September 29, 2026 – The Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Sumatera Utara, collaborated with several strategic partners to commemorate World Pharmacists Day 2026. The series of activities was carried out as a form of shared concern and contribution to increasing public awareness of the importance of health and strengthening the role of the pharmacy profession in society.

In this activity, the Faculty of Pharmacy USU involved various strategic partners, namely Balai Besar POM Medan, PT Kimia Farma Trading & Distribution, PT Kimia Farma Apotek Unit Bisnis, Apotek Timoti, Apotek Gratia Farma, Apotek Keshia Farma, Apotek Citra Farma, Apotek Sarana, PT Enseval Putera Megatrading Tbk., PD IAI Sumatera Utara, and PC IAI Kota Medan.
The collaboration was realized through several activities involving the academic community and the public, including group exercise, free health check-ups, and health education for the community. The series of activities served as a platform to encourage the public to adopt a healthy lifestyle while increasing knowledge about health and the proper use of medicines.

The group exercise activity was one of the efforts to encourage the community to be more active in maintaining physical fitness and adopting a healthy lifestyle. Meanwhile, through the free health check-ups, community members had the opportunity to learn about their health conditions at an early stage and receive relevant health information.

In addition to health check-ups, the Faculty of Pharmacy USU, together with its partners, also provided health education to the community. The education was an important part of improving health literacy, particularly regarding the importance of maintaining health, recognizing disease risk factors, and using medicines safely, appropriately, and rationally.
The involvement of various sectors, ranging from higher education institutions, the pharmaceutical industry, pharmacies, regulators, to professional organizations, demonstrates that improving public health requires cross-sectoral synergy. This collaboration also provided opportunities for lecturers and students of the Faculty of Pharmacy USU to directly implement pharmaceutical knowledge through community service activities.
From the perspective of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), this activity directly supports SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being through promotive and preventive efforts in the form of physical activity, health check-ups, and public education. These activities are expected to increase public awareness of maintaining health and conducting early detection of various health risks.

On the other hand, the involvement of 11 strategic partners from various sectors also strengthens the achievement of SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals. The synergy among the Faculty of Pharmacy USU, businesses, pharmacies, government, regulators, and professional organizations represents a tangible form of collaboration to provide broader benefits to the community.
Through the commemoration of World Pharmacists Day 2026, the Faculty of Pharmacy USU continues to strengthen its role not only as an institution for education and the development of pharmaceutical sciences but also as part of the community that contributes to achieving sustainable health and well-being. Collaboration with strategic partners is expected to continue to be developed in various fields to provide a positive impact on the community.
