Medan, 4 August 2026 – The Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), through the Professional Program in Pharmacy, successfully conducted the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) on 25, 26, and 27 July 2026. The examination was attended by 96 students of the Professional Program in Pharmacy as an important stage in evaluating the competencies of prospective pharmacists before completing their professional education.

The OSCE was conducted in an orderly and smooth manner and in accordance with applicable competency assessment standards. The examination utilized various stations designed to objectively assess students’ abilities, ranging from pharmaceutical care and patient communication to clinical decision-making and the application of patient safety principles and professional ethics. The entire examination process was supported by lecturers, examiners, and the organizing committee, all of whom were committed to maintaining the quality of the assessment.
As part of efforts to improve the quality of healthcare professional education, the OSCE serves as an important instrument for ensuring that every prospective pharmacist possesses competencies that meet the needs of community healthcare services. Through comprehensive assessment, graduates are expected to provide professional, safe, and patient-centered pharmaceutical care.

The implementation of the OSCE is also aligned with the Faculty of Pharmacy USU’s commitment to supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being through the provision of competent and qualified healthcare professionals, and SDG 4: Quality Education through the implementation of an objective, standardized, and quality-oriented learning assessment system. Furthermore, collaboration among lecturers, education personnel, and examiners in organizing the examination reflects the spirit of SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.

With the successful implementation of the 2026 OSCE, the Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Sumatera Utara, continues to demonstrate its commitment to producing excellent, professional, and integrity-driven pharmacists who are prepared to contribute to improving the quality of healthcare services in Indonesia.
