The Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Sumatera Utara, held a Forum Group Discussion (FGD) in Medan on August 28, 2018. The event focused on developing research-based products with insights from expert speakers.

The Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Sumatera Utara, held a Forum Group Discussion (FGD) at Le Polonia Hotel, Jl. Jenderal Sudirman No.14-18, Madras Hulu, Medan Polonia, Kota Medan, on Tuesday, August 28, 2018.

The event was attended by Drs. Mahyuddin K. M. Nasution, M.I.T., Ph.D. (Vice Rector III of USU), Prof. Dr. Masfria, M.S., Apt. (Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, USU), and the Vice Deans I, II, and III from the Faculty of Pharmacy, USU.

 

In addition to the leadership, the event invited four expert speakers: Dr. Tulus Ikhsan Nasution, S.Si., M.Sc. (Head of the Intellectual Property Rights Unit of Universitas Sumatera Utara), Prof. Dr. Julia Reveny, M.Si., Apt. (Lecturer at the Faculty of Pharmacy, USU), Yanti Agustini, S.Si., Apt., M.Kes. (Balai Besar POM), and Ir. Lilis Sukeksi, M.Sc., Ph.D. (Chairperson of Cikal, Universitas Sumatera Utara).

 

In her remarks, Prof. Dr. Masfria, M.S., Apt., stated that the purpose of this FGD was to gather insights on developing tested and usable research-based products.

The Faculty of Pharmacy, USU, has four departments: the Department of Pharmacology and Pharmacy, the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology, the Department of Pharmaceutical Biology, and the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry. The Department of Pharmaceutical Technology conducts extensive research, resulting in products, some of which are already in use.

 

Prof. Dr. Masfria, M.S., Apt., added that the presence of the expert speakers in their respective fields is expected to provide valuable ideas for the development of research outcomes into marketable products.
