The Faculty of Pharmacy at USU welcomed 100 students and 5 teachers from SMAN 3 Pekanbaru on January 22, 2018. The visit introduced study programs, laboratory facilities, and admission pathways at Universitas Sumatera Utara.

On Monday, January 22, 2018, the Faculty of Pharmacy at Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) welcomed a visit from students of SMAN 3 Pekanbaru. The group consisted of 100 students and 5 accompanying teachers. The visit aimed to provide a closer introduction to the Faculty of Pharmacy at USU and its academic community, allowing the students to consider the Faculty of Pharmacy at USU specifically, and Universitas Sumatera Utara generally, as an option for higher education after graduating from high school.

 

Attending the event were the Vice Dean II, Khairunnisa, S.Si., M.Pharm., Ph.D., Apt.; the Head of the Undergraduate Pharmacy Program, Dr. Sumaiyah, M.Si., Apt.; and the Head of the Diploma Program in Pharmaceutical and Food Analysis, Popi Patilaya, S.Si., M.Sc., Apt.

 

In her welcoming remarks, Vice Dean II Khairunnisa, S.Si., M.Pharm., Ph.D., Apt., expressed her gratitude to the students and their teachers for visiting the Faculty of Pharmacy at USU. She explained that prospective students could enter the Faculty of Pharmacy through three admission pathways: the National Selection for State University Admission (SNMPTN) for outstanding students from high schools across Indonesia, the Joint Selection for State University Admission (SBMPTN), and the Joint Entrance Examination (UMB). She also highlighted that the Faculty of Pharmacy offers five study programs: Undergraduate, Diploma, Master’s, Doctoral, and Professional Pharmacist programs.

 

The event concluded with an exchange of souvenirs and a tour of the laboratories at the Faculty of Pharmacy. During the tour, students were also provided with explanations about the use of laboratory equipment at USU’s Faculty of Pharmacy.

 

The event also featured presentations about the Undergraduate Pharmacy Program by Dr. Sumaiyah, M.Si., Apt., Head of the Undergraduate Pharmacy Program, and the Diploma III Program in Pharmaceutical and Food Analysis by Popi Patilaya, S.Si., M.Sc., Apt. The students were highly enthusiastic about the presentations from each program.
