The USU Faculty of Pharmacy welcomed a visit from the Indian Consulate on July 8, 2025, to strengthen educational and research collaboration. Discussions included academic exchange, joint research, and postgraduate scholarship opportunities.

USU PHARMACY PUBLIC RELATIONS – The Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), welcomed an official visit from the Indian Consulate on Tuesday, July 8, 2025. Held at the 2nd Floor Auditorium of the Faculty of Pharmacy USU, the visit marked an important moment in strengthening bilateral relations in education, research, and pharmaceutical development between Indonesia and India.

 

 

This formal visit was part of the Indian Consulate’s diplomatic mission to explore opportunities for academic and research collaboration with higher education institutions in North Sumatra, particularly in the field of pharmacy. The meeting took place in a warm and open atmosphere, discussing various potential initiatives such as faculty and student exchanges, joint research in herbal medicine and biotechnology development, and support for postgraduate scholarships.

 

 

The Indian Consulate delegation was led by the Consul General of India in Medan, accompanied by consular staff and representatives from the India Corner. From the Faculty of Pharmacy USU, the Dean and the leadership board, lecturers, and students were present.

 

 

The event took place on July 8, 2025, at the 2nd Floor Auditorium of the Faculty of Pharmacy USU, Medan. The visit aimed to strengthen international cooperation in higher education and research, in line with the Faculty of Pharmacy USU’s vision for internationalization. India, known for its significant progress in the pharmaceutical industry and science education, is seen as a strategic partner to foster innovation and academic capacity.

 

 

The program began with welcoming remarks from the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy USU, followed by a faculty profile presentation, collaborative discussions, and a Q&A session between students and the Indian Consulate delegation. The event concluded with an exchange of souvenirs and group photos as a symbol of friendship between the two nations.

 

 

This activity supports several SDGs, including:

  • SDG 4 – Quality Education, through strengthening international educational partnerships and scholarship opportunities;

  • SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, by promoting pharmaceutical research and innovation collaboration;

  • SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals, by encouraging global partnerships in education and research.

With this visit, the Faculty of Pharmacy USU hopes to open more pathways for impactful international collaborations that benefit the academic community and the wider public.
