The opening of the “Competition and Gala Night of Pharmacy Expo 2017”, held on Tuesday (April 25, 2017), at the Faculty of Pharmacy’s Auditorium officially began at 9:00 AM. This annual event received great enthusiasm from students, particularly from the Faculty of Pharmacy. After the success of previous editions, this year’s event marks the fourth Pharmacy Expo with the theme “Explore your skill, sail your dream.”
The Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, represented by the Head of the Undergraduate Pharmacy Program, Dr. Sumaiyah, S.Si., M.Si., Apt., expressed in her speech the hope that through the Competition and Gala Night of Pharmacy Expo, students of the Faculty of Pharmacy would be more active in developing their talents. The event runs from April 25 to May 7, 2017, featuring various activities and competitions. For the local level, the events include:
Arts: solo vocals, group vocals, acoustic bands, creative dance, traditional dance, and fashion shows.
Sports: futsal, chess, PES, badminton, table tennis, and tug of war.
For the national level, the competitions include:
Academics: counseling, journal review, debates, scientific writing (KTI), and posters.
This competition is open to both local and national participants. Local participants consist of students from Universitas Sumatera Utara, particularly the Faculty of Pharmacy. National participants come from various pharmacy faculties across Indonesia, including the Faculty of Pharmacy USU, Faculty of Pharmacy UI, Faculty of Pharmacy UGM, and Faculty of Pharmacy UNHAS.
Adding to the excitement, the committee organized an SBMPTN tryout on April 30, 2017, a National Seminar on May 30, 2017, a Bazaar from May 3 to 5, 2017, and invited stand-up comedians Ge Pamungkas and Reza Kahar as guest stars for the peak event of the Competition and Gala Night of Pharmacy Expo 2017. It is hoped that the presence of Ge Pamungkas and Reza Kahar will enliven the closing ceremony scheduled for May 7, 2017.
