The 2016 PKKMB at the Faculty of Pharmacy USU, themed "Learn Forever, Heal Together," featured campus orientation, lab tours, seminars, and engaging activities. The event aimed to foster active, innovative, and creative new students.
There were many pros and cons in the implementation process of PKKMB. Initially, committees from each faculty planned to organize a university-level PKKMB event, but this was not approved by the rectorate. Therefore, based on an agreement, the university-level PKKMB was canceled. The committee was confused by a sudden schedule change, as the event was originally planned for August 29-30, 2016, but midway through, the announcement was made to move it earlier to August 25-26, 2016.
When the announcement reached the committee, many members had not yet arrived in Medan. With a limited number of members available, the existing committee arranged the event, although several changes were made to the event rundown. On the day of the event, the activity was opened with a welcoming ceremony organized by the Rectorate Bureau at the USU Auditorium, followed by faculty-specific events.
The Faculty of Pharmacy adopted the theme “Learn Forever, Heal Together,” symbolizing lifelong learning and collective healing. The PKKMB event was held on the second floor of the Faculty of Pharmacy hall and was opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Dra. Masfria, M.S., Apt., who also officially handed over the new students to the PKKMB committee.
Campus introduction activities included screening videos about USU's campus and the Faculty of Pharmacy profile, introducing USU’s academic regulations and curriculum, particularly for the Faculty of Pharmacy, laboratory tours, seminars, talk shows, games, and concluding with the PKKMB Awards. Delivering accurate information was the key to the success of the PKKMB event at the Faculty of Pharmacy. The committee maintained strong teamwork before, during, and after the event.
This series of events aimed to encourage new students of the Faculty of Pharmacy to become more active, innovative, and creative, while fostering camaraderie among students. Long live the students!
