The Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), hosted the 2017 PKKMB with the theme "Fostering National Defense Awareness," attended by 274 new students. The five-day event provided insights into national awareness, defense, and character building.
The PKKMB Committee of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), organized the 2017 Campus Life Introduction Program (PKKMB) on Thursday, August 24, 2017, in the Second-Floor Hall of the Faculty of Pharmacy with the theme "Fostering National Defense Awareness." The event, attended by 274 new students of the Faculty of Pharmacy, was officially opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Prof. Dr. Masfria, M.S., Apt., accompanied by the Vice Deans and the academic community of the Faculty of Pharmacy USU.
The event began with an opening speech by the Chairman of the 2017 PKKMB Committee, Rony Abdi Syahputra. In his remarks, Rony encouraged all new students to take full advantage of and actively participate in the activities to better understand the Faculty of Pharmacy USU. The Governor of the Student Body of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Fachri Gunawan, expressed the faculty’s strong support for the PKKMB activities, ensuring that all necessary resources were provided until the event’s conclusion. Fachri also emphasized that PKKMB serves as an important moment to assist students in transitioning from high school to university life.
The Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Prof. Dr. Masfria, M.S., Apt., mentioned in her speech that this year’s PKKMB differs from previous years, as it is held over five days.
During the 2017 PKKMB, students were provided with various materials, including National Consensus Fundamentals, Basic Principles of National Defense, National Awareness, Dangers of Radicalism and Terrorism, Religious Harmony, National Defense System, Drug Abuse Awareness, Leadership, Disaster Management, Legal Knowledge on Corruption, Traffic Laws, and Anti-Corruption, Higher Education System, Character Building, Student Organizations, and information on academic activities and services at the university. Besides USU lecturers, speakers also included representatives from Kodim 0201 BS, POLDASU, and BNPB.
During the event, the Dean symbolically handed over the new students to the Chairman of the 2017 PKKMB Committee of the Faculty of Pharmacy.
