USU Faculty of Pharmacy Public Relations — In an effort to strengthen accountable and transparent higher education governance, the Faculty of Pharmacy at Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) held a performance contract signing event between the Dean and the Heads of Study Programs for the year 2025. This initiative marks a concrete step in supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 16 (Strong Institutions).

The performance contract represents a formal commitment between the faculty leadership and study program heads to achieve targets in academic performance, research, community service, and efficient resource management.

The event involved the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Prof. Khairunnisa, S.Si., M.Pharm., Ph.D., Apt., along with the Heads of the Undergraduate Program in Pharmacy, Pharmacist Profession Study Program, Master’s Program in Pharmaceutical Science, and Doctoral Program in Pharmaceutical Science. The ceremony was held at the beginning of 2025 as part of the faculty’s annual strategic planning.

The signing took place in the USU Faculty of Pharmacy Hall, a venue frequently used for academic and institutional events.

The objective of this initiative is to ensure that all study programs have work plans and strategies aligned with the vision and mission of both the faculty and the university. It also supports SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) by promoting curriculum development and the enhancement of pharmaceutical industry-based scientific publications.

The contracts were signed following an open discussion between the Dean and the Heads of Study Programs, during which each program presented their work plans and target achievement strategies. Key focus areas included:

  • Improving academic quality,

  • Strengthening research and scientific publications,

  • Developing industry-based curricula, and

  • Optimizing financial and human resource management.

This initiative not only symbolizes a commitment to performance achievement but also reflects participatory, accountable, and quality-oriented governance. The Faculty of Pharmacy at USU hopes this step will help achieve institutional targets and strengthen its contribution to the advancement of pharmaceutical science both nationally and globally, in line with the spirit of the SDGs.
