Medan, August 7, 2026 — Lecturers from the Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) participated as attendees in the Annual Scientific Meeting of the Indonesian Pharmacists Association (PIT IAI), held from August 6–8, 2026. Their participation reflects the Faculty of Pharmacy USU’s commitment to enhancing lecturers’ competencies, strengthening professional networks, and supporting the development of quality pharmaceutical education and services.
PIT IAI 2026 served as a forum for academics, pharmacists, practitioners, researchers, and various stakeholders to gain insights and exchange knowledge on the latest developments in pharmaceutical science and technology. Through this event, lecturers from the Faculty of Pharmacy USU had the opportunity to broaden their knowledge and keep up with current developments relevant to education, research, and pharmaceutical practice.
The participation was also closely connected to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In relation to SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, enhancing lecturers’ competencies in pharmacy is expected to contribute to improving the quality of human resources and healthcare services. Knowledge gained from scientific activities can be applied to education and academic development, thereby supporting the preparation of competent and professional pharmaceutical personnel.
In terms of SDG 4: Quality Education, lecturers’ participation in scientific activities represents an important form of continuous professional development. The latest knowledge and insights gained during PIT IAI can be integrated into the learning process, enabling students to receive materials that are relevant to developments in science and the needs of the professional field.
Furthermore, participation in PIT IAI supports SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals. Interactions and knowledge exchange with academics, practitioners, professional organizations, and other institutions provide opportunities to strengthen networks and foster collaboration in education, research, community service, and pharmaceutical professional development.
The participation of Faculty of Pharmacy USU lecturers in PIT IAI 2026 therefore serves not only as an opportunity for individual capacity building but also as part of the institution’s efforts to support sustainable development. By strengthening academic and professional competencies, the Faculty of Pharmacy USU continues to advance quality pharmacy education while contributing to the improvement of public health and well-being.
This participation is expected to generate a lasting impact on the development of education, research, and community service at the Faculty of Pharmacy USU, while further strengthening the university’s contribution to achieving the SDGs at both the national and global levels.
