The Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), held its second IPR Article Writing Mentoring event to boost patents from lecturers and students, held in Sibolangit on November 30–December 1, 2018. The event featured 21 participants and expert speakers from USU's IPR Unit.

To enhance the number of works by lecturers and students receiving Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) recognition, the Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Sumatera Utara, held its second IPR Article Writing Mentoring event from November 30 to December 1, 2018, at The Hill Hotel & Resort, Sibolangit, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra Province.

 

The event was opened by the Vice Rector III of USU, Drs. Mahyuddin K.M. Nasution, M.I.T., Ph.D., accompanied by the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy USU, Prof. Dr. Masfria, M.S., Apt. The speakers included Tulus Ikhsan, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D., Irwana Nainggolan, M.Sc., Ph.D., Dr. Apri Heri Iswanto, S.Hut., M.Si., and Dr. Panal Sitorus, M.Si., Apt., who are members of USU's HaKI Unit.

 

In his remarks, the Vice Rector III emphasized that the Faculty of Pharmacy is a patent powerhouse for USU and should therefore be encouraged to increase the number of its patents. However, he noted that patents submitted should ideally have the potential to generate commercial products and provide benefits to society.

 

The two-day event was attended by 21 participants, comprising 16 lecturers, 3 Master's Program (S-2) students in Pharmaceutical Sciences, and 2 Doctoral Program (S-3) students in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the Faculty of Pharmacy, USU. Also present were Dr. Poppy Anjelisa Z. Hasibuan, S.Si., M.Si., Apt., as Vice Dean I, and Marianne, S.Si., M.Si., Apt., as Vice Dean III of the Faculty of Pharmacy, USU.
