The "Animal Handling and Analytical Preparation in Pharmaceutical Research" training at the Faculty of Pharmacy USU covered animal research ethics, lab techniques, and safety protocols. The event featured expert speakers and hands-on lab practice.
The training event "Animal Handling and Analytical Preparation in Pharmaceutical Research" was opened by the Vice Dean I of the Faculty of Pharmacy USU, Dr. Poppy Anjelisa Z. Hasibuan, M.Si., Apt. In her opening remarks, Dr. Poppy Anjelisa Z. Hasibuan, M.Si., Apt., expressed her hope that this event would broaden students' knowledge and guide them in conducting proper research.
Prof. Dr. Urip Harahap, Apt., delivered a session on the basics of animal usage, permissible numbers, and ethical considerations. Dr. Poppy Anjelisa Z. Hasibuan, M.Si., Apt., also presented material on the role of ethics committees and ethical clearance for preclinical trials. Lia Laila, S.Farm., M.Sc., Apt., conducted a seminar titled "Introduction, Maintenance, and Numbering Techniques for Experimental Animals."
Dadang Irfan Husori, S.Si., M.Sc., Apt., delivered a seminar titled "Laboratory Animal Handling Technique," while Marianne, S.Si., M.Si., Apt., presented "Disease Animal Models and Regulations on the Use of the Animal House at the Faculty of Pharmacy USU."
On the second day of the training, a consultant from Merck provided sessions on "Safety in Laboratory," "Waste Handling in Laboratory," and "Analytical Sample Preparation." On the third day, participants attended hands-on training at the Pharmacology and Toxicology Laboratory of the Faculty of Pharmacy USU, as well as the Research Laboratory, to apply the knowledge delivered by the speakers.
The event concluded with the awarding of certificates to participants and door prizes for the best participants.
