The Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Sumatera Utara, conducted a training on "Animal Handling and Analytical Preparation in Pharmaceutical Research" attended by 140 undergraduate and postgraduate students. This program enhances knowledge of animal care and pharmaceutical research.

The Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Sumatera Utara, organized a training program titled “Animal Handling and Analytical Preparation in Pharmaceutical Research.” This event was attended by 140 participants from the undergraduate and master programs of the Faculty of Pharmacy USU.

Held in the 2nd Floor Hall of the Faculty of Pharmacy USU, the training was officially opened by the Chairperson of the Committee, Mrs. Aminah Dalimunthe, S.Si., M.Si., Apt. In her opening remarks, she expressed hope that this program would broaden students' knowledge of animal care and handling, enabling them to conduct research effectively.

The seminar featured four speakers:

  1. Prof. Dr. Syafruddin Ilyas, M.Biomed., who delivered a session on The Role of the Ethics Committee in Laboratory Animal Use and Clinical Trials.

  2. Imam Bagus Sumantri, S.Si., M.Si., Apt., who provided insights into Laboratory Animal Handling Techniques.

  3. Marianne, S.Si., M.Si., Apt., who presented a session titled Regulations for Using the Animal House of the Faculty of Pharmacy USU.

  4. A consultant from Merck, who discussed Basic Rules in the Laboratory & Personal Protective Equipment.

On the second day, hands-on training was conducted in the Pharmacology and Toxicology Laboratory as well as the Research Laboratory of the Faculty of Pharmacy USU. Participants practiced the techniques introduced by the speakers. The event concluded with the distribution of certificates to the participants.
