The Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Sumatera Utara, held PKKMB 2025 on August 13–15 with the theme IMPACT: Inspiring Movement of Pharmacists as Agent of Change and Transformation. The event highlighted the role of pharmacy freshmen as agents of change through seminars, leadership training, and cultural performances.

USU Pharmacy Public Relations – The Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), held the 2025 Pengenalan Kehidupan Kampus bagi Mahasiswa Baru (PKKMB) on August 13–15, 2025, at the USU Faculty of Pharmacy. This year’s PKKMB carried the theme “IMPACT: Inspiring Movement of Pharmacists as Agent of Change and Transformation”, emphasizing the role of pharmacy students as agents of change and transformation in health and society.

The program was attended by hundreds of new students of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Academic Year 2025/2026. The event was also attended by the Dean, Vice Deans, lecturers, staff, and student organizations of the faculty. In addition, guest speakers from pharmacy practitioners and alumni were present to share their experiences.

PKKMB is an annual agenda aimed at introducing the campus environment, academic culture, regulations, and values that new students must uphold. This year, with the IMPACT theme, the program not only focused on academic introduction but also encouraged new students to develop leadership, social awareness, and adaptability in the era of digital transformation and global health.

The three-day event, held from August 13–15, 2025, featured seminars, interactive discussions, leadership training, student organization introductions, and student art and cultural performances. PKKMB activities were conducted across the Faculty of Pharmacy facilities, including the main hall, classrooms, and campus areas for both formal and non-formal sessions.

The program was designed to prepare new students to face campus life dynamics while instilling the spirit of change in line with the pharmacist’s role as healthcare professionals who are ethical, innovative, and contributors to national development. The IMPACT theme was chosen to remind students that they are not only future professionals but also agents of change capable of driving transformation in health and society.

PKKMB was packaged in a mix of formal and non-formal sessions. In the formal sessions, students received material from faculty leaders, lecturers, and external speakers on academics, professional ethics, mental health, and leadership. The non-formal sessions included educational games, team collaboration simulations, and student organization introductions. The event concluded with a declaration from new students to uphold the good name of the alma mater, followed by art and cultural performances that reflected the spirit of unity.

PKKMB 2025 also supports the achievement of several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), namely:

  • SDG 4 (Quality Education): enhancing education quality through academic preparation and character development.

  • SDG 5 (Gender Equality): ensuring equal opportunities for all students to grow and participate actively.

  • SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities): uniting students from diverse social, cultural, and regional backgrounds.

  • SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions): instilling integrity, ethics, and leadership values to face global challenges.

  • SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals): involving lecturers, alumni, and external speakers in providing knowledge to new students.

Through PKKMB 2025, the USU Faculty of Pharmacy hopes that new students can grow into young intellectuals who are ethical, adaptive, and capable of making a real IMPACT in society through their roles in pharmacy.
