PHARMACY USU PUBLIC RELATIONS – The Faculty of Pharmacy at Universitas Sumatera Utara welcomed an academic visit from Prof. Dr. Hina Siddiqui from the H.E.J. Research Institute of Chemistry, International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences, University of Karachi. Prof. Hina Siddiqui is also known as a COMSTECH Distinguished Scholar who actively contributes to research development in the fields of organic chemistry and medicinal chemistry.
The visit formed part of the implementation of international cooperation aimed at strengthening academic collaboration, research, and scientific development between the Faculty of Pharmacy USU and international educational and research institutions. The presence of Prof. Hina Siddiqui is expected to strengthen academic relations while opening broader opportunities for collaboration in education, research, scientific publications, and academic exchange.
During the visit, various academic discussions were conducted regarding the latest developments in organic and medicinal chemistry research, the development of bioactive compounds, and opportunities for international collaborative research that could contribute to the advancement of pharmaceutical and health sciences. In addition, the visit also served as a platform for exchanging academic insights and experiences between the academic community of the Faculty of Pharmacy USU and international scholars.
The Faculty of Pharmacy USU continues to demonstrate its commitment to expanding international networks in order to improve the quality of higher education and strengthen research culture. Through collaboration with various overseas institutions, the faculty seeks to create an academic environment that is adaptive to the global advancement of science and technology.
This academic visit also provided significant benefits for lecturers and researchers within the Faculty of Pharmacy USU by broadening research perspectives and increasing opportunities for multidisciplinary collaboration. International collaboration is considered one of the strategic steps toward producing research innovations capable of creating meaningful impacts on society and the healthcare sector.
In addition to strengthening academic relations, the visit also supports the enhancement of research capacity and human resource development in the field of pharmacy. It is hoped that the established cooperation will lead to various collaborative programs such as joint research, international publications, academic exchanges, scientific seminars, and the development of research-based innovations.
Through this activity, the Faculty of Pharmacy USU reaffirmed its commitment to continuously developing as an excellent higher education institution with global competitiveness and the ability to make meaningful contributions to the advancement of science and public health at both national and international levels.
The activity also supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4: Quality Education through improving the quality of higher education and strengthening academic competencies; Goal 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure through the development of scientific research and innovation; and Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals through strengthening international cooperation in education, research, and scientific development.
