Public Relations Faculty of Pharmacy USU - A professor from International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), Professor Alfi Khatib, visited the Faculty of Pharmacy USU on Tuesday, August 29, 2023. This visit was welcomed by the Deputy Dean III of Pharmacy USU, Marianne, S.Si., M.Si., Apt., and the Head and Secretary Masters and Dosctoral Programme Study Faculty of Pharmacy USU, apt. Yuandani, S.Farm., M.Si., Phd., and apt. Emil Salim, M.Sc., Ph.D., at the second-floor meeting room at the Faculty of Pharmacy.

In his visit to the Faculty of Pharmacy at USU, Prof. Alfi speaks the collaboration opportunities that can be applied by all students of the Faculty of Pharmacy at USU, starting from bachelor's, master's, and doctoral students to do research at IIUM. In this collaboration opportunity, each bachelor student of pharmacy at USU can carry out research at IIUM for 3–4 months with the first supervisor from USU and the second supervisor from IIUM. The output that is expected from this collaboration is an international paper indexed in Scopus. This option can be given when there is an agreement (MoA) between both faculties; therefore, students of pharmacy at USU can apply for a waiver of boarding fees during the research study at IIUM.

Prof. Alfi also talked about how this opportunity can be given to master's and doctoral students in the faculty of pharmacy by doing some research at IIUM with similar requirements to bachelor's students, but the output papers might be 2 or 3 internationally indexed by Scopus. Moreover, this opportunity focuses not only on research but also on doing community services together between the two faculties.

These opportunities were very welcomed by the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at USU, apt. Khairunnisa, S.Si., M.Pharm., Ph.D., who stated that the Faculty of Pharmacy will soon make a visit to IIUM in the upcoming future to explore possible collaborations between the two parties.
