Doctoral Program (S-3)

The Doctoral Program in Pharmaceutical Science at Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) is the highest level of education in pharmaceutical science at USU. The Doctoral Program in Pharmaceutical Science (PSDIF) is supported by good facilities and supported by professional teaching staff who are experts in their fields.

The main focus of this program is research in various pharmaceutical fields such as pharmacology, clinical and community pharmacy, pharmaceutics, pharmaceutical biology, and pharmaceutical chemistry. PSDIF is committed to providing students with the ability to master in-depth knowledge in pharmaceutical sciences as well as the skills to conduct research independently. Research results from lecturers and students in this program have been successfully published in reputable international journals.

History

2009

In 2009, the USU Doctoral Program in Pharmaceutical Science was established under the management of the USU Postgraduate School based on Decree No. 939/H5.1.R/SK/PRS/2009 with the Head of Study Program Prof. Dr. Sumadio Hadisaputra, Apt. and Secretary of Study Program Prof. Dr. Urip Harahap, Apt. The management of the USU Doctoral Program in Pharmaceutical Science was then transferred to the USU Faculty of Pharmacy with the Head of the Program, Prof. Dr. Urip Harahap, Apt., and the Secretary of the Program, Prof. Dr. Karsono, Apt.

2010

After 1 year, the leadership in the USU Doctoral Program in Pharmaceutical Science changed again with the Head of the Study Program, Prof. Dr. Karsono, Apt. and Secretary of the Study Program, Prof. Dr. Rosidah, M.Si., Apt.

2012

On May 11, 2012, the USU Doctoral Program in Pharmaceutical Science obtained a C accreditation from BAN-PT.

2016

The leadership of the study program is still entrusted to the late Prof. Dr. Karsono, Apt. as the Head of the Study Program, and Prof. Dr. Rosidah, M.Si., Apt. as the Secretary of the Study Program.

2017

Not even 1 year into his duties, the late Prof. Dr. Karsono, Apt. passed away in his second period as the Head of the Study Program, which was then replaced by Prof. Dr. Urip Harahap, Apt. with Prof. Dr. Rosidah, M.Si., Apt. remaining as Secretary of the Study Program. In 2017, under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Urip Harahap, Apt. and Prof. Dr. Rosidah, M.Si., Apt., the USU Doctoral Program in Pharmaceutical Science successfully received a B (Good) accreditation from the Indonesian Accreditation Agency for Higher Education in Health (LAM-PTKes).

2021

In October 2021, the leadership of the USU Doctoral Program in Pharmaceutical Sciences changed again with the formation of Yuandani, M.Si., Ph.D., Apt. as Head of the Study Program and Emil Salim, S.Farm., M.Sc., Ph.D., Apt. as Secretary of the Study Program.

2022

In 2022, under the leadership of Yuandani, M.Si., Ph.D., Apt. and Emil Salim, M.Sc., Ph.D., Apt., the USU Doctoral Program in Pharmaceutical Sciences successfully obtained a Very Good accreditation from the Indonesian Accreditation Agency for Higher Education in Health (LAM-PTKes).

Increasing the quantity, quality, and diversity of natural materials research in the fields of pharmaceutical science, clinical, and community, as well as pharmaceutical technology so that it is worthy of being published in internationally reputable journals indexed by Scopus, Thomson Reuter, and other international indexers and can be applied amid society.
Implementing community service in the form of national and international collaborations.
Expanding opportunities for the Indonesian and international community to study and gain knowledge at the Doctoral Program in Pharmaceutical Science.

To graduate Doctor of Pharmacy graduates with high morality and Pancasila spirit as human resources who are faithful and devoted to God Almighty, virtuous, responsible, and competitive.
To provide graduates with competence in science, clinical and community pharmacy, and pharmaceutical technology.
To provide graduates who master the methodology and technology of modern pharmaceutical science so that they are able to understand, explain, and solve pharmaceutical problems using scientific concepts and behave as scientists.
To provide graduates who are open and responsive to changes and developments in science and research in the field of pharmacy.
To foster tripartite collaboration: academic community, alumni, and service users at home and abroad.
To research pharmaceutical science, especially the development of natural medicine in science, clinical, and community pharmacy and pharmaceutical technology.
To conduct research collaboration with other disciplines and develop the research results.
To publish research in internationally reputable journals that benefit the community.
To implement research collaboration on the development of natural medicine with the government, pharmaceutical industry, and other research institutions, including foreign institutions.

Himpunan Mahasiswa Pascasarjana Farmasi Universitas Sumatera Utara (HMPF USU)

Himpunan Mahasiswa Pascasarjana Farmasi (English: Pharmacy Postgraduate Student Association), abbreviated as HMPF, is a student organization consisting of students from the Master's and Doctoral Program in Pharmaceutical Sciences at the Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU). This organization is a forum for USU Pharmacy Postgraduate students to develop and actualize their student capacity and potential in the form of aspirations, initiations, or positive and creative ideas through various activities that are relevant to the goals of national education and the vision and mission of the Universitas Sumatera Utara. The organizational structure comprises a head, secretary, treasurer, and several fields, including public relations and publications, education and community service, advocacy and collaboration, and secretarial and entrepreneurship.
