Medan, September 9, 2026 – The Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Sumatera Utara continues to promote the improvement of human resource competencies through strengthening the use of technology in learning and research activities. One of these efforts was realized through the Particle Size Analyzer (PSA) Equipment Demo Workshop, which aimed to improve the understanding and skills of lecturers and laboratory staff in conducting particle size analysis.

The workshop served as a platform for the academic community of the Faculty of Pharmacy USU to gain a closer understanding of the use of the Particle Size Analyzer (PSA) instrument, including its application in supporting analytical processes in the field of pharmacy. Mastery of analytical instruments is an important part of supporting academic activities, particularly practical learning, research, and innovation development in pharmaceutical sciences.
Through the demonstration, participants gained an understanding of the use of PSA technology to analyze particle size characteristics. These skills are expected to strengthen the technical capabilities of lecturers and laboratory staff so that they can support the implementation of increasingly technology-based education and research activities.

The Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy USU stated that developing the competencies of the academic community is an important part of creating an academic environment that is adaptive to developments in science and technology. The utilization of modern instruments is also expected to provide greater opportunities for the development of research and innovation in pharmaceutical sciences.
This activity also reflects the commitment of the Faculty of Pharmacy USU to building an education and research ecosystem oriented toward quality improvement. Collaboration among lecturers, laboratory staff, and various relevant parties is an important factor in optimizing the utilization of laboratory facilities and technology.

The implementation of the Particle Size Analyzer Demo Workshop is in line with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being through the development of pharmaceutical science and technology, which contributes to supporting the quality of research and the development of healthcare products.
In addition, strengthening competencies in pharmaceutical analysis also supports SDG 4: Quality Education through improving the competencies and capacities of the academic community.
This activity also supports SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure through the utilization of modern technology and analytical instruments to support research and innovation in the field of pharmacy.

The spirit of collaboration in the development of education, research, and technology is also in line with SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals. Through activities such as this, the Faculty of Pharmacy USU continues to strengthen a culture of learning, innovation, and collaboration to support the advancement of pharmaceutical sciences. “Strengthening Competencies, Developing Innovation” serves as the spirit of the Faculty of Pharmacy USU in continuously fostering an academic culture that is adaptive to developments in science and technology.
