PHARMACY USU PUBLIC RELATIONS – The Faculty of Pharmacy at Universitas Sumatera Utara held the Oath-Taking Ceremony for the XXXIX Cohort of the Pharmacist Professional Education Program (PSPPA) on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at the 2nd Floor Hall of the Faculty of Pharmacy USU. The event became an important milestone for pharmacist graduates before carrying out their professional duties and dedication in the field of pharmacy and public healthcare services.

The pharmacist oath-taking ceremony was conducted solemnly and attended by prospective pharmacists who had completed their professional education. During the ceremony, the participants recited the professional oath as a commitment to carrying out pharmaceutical duties while upholding ethics, integrity, professionalism, and responsibility toward society and the healthcare sector.

This activity marked the beginning of the journey for the new pharmacists to dedicate themselves to various areas of pharmaceutical services, including hospitals, pharmacies, the pharmaceutical industry, laboratories, educational institutions, and other healthcare sectors. As professional healthcare workers, pharmacists play an important role in ensuring the safety, quality, and effectiveness of medication use for the community.

Through this oath-taking ceremony, the Faculty of Pharmacy USU hopes that the new pharmacists will become competent and adaptive healthcare professionals who are capable of responding to the rapid advancement of science and technology in the pharmaceutical field. Furthermore, graduates are expected to make meaningful contributions toward improving the quality of healthcare services and supporting national health development.

The pharmacist's professional oath ceremony is not only a symbol of academic completion, but also a form of moral and professional responsibility in carrying out pharmaceutical practice in accordance with professional standards and the Indonesian Pharmacists’ Code of Ethics. The values of professionalism, patient care, and dedication to society serve as the primary foundation in practicing the pharmacy profession.

The implementation of this activity also supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 3: Good Health and Well-Being through improving the quality of public healthcare services; Goal 4: Quality Education through enhancing the quality of professional healthcare education; and Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth through the creation of competent professionals who are ready to contribute to the workforce.
