The Faculty of Pharmacy USU held the first day of the International Summer Course of Pharmacy (ISCP) in a hybrid format on August 1, 2022. The event featured experts from Universiti Sains Malaysia and PT. Kimia Farma Tbk, discussing ethnomedicine and herbal medicine business potential.

The Faculty of Pharmacy at Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) held the first day of the International Summer Course of Pharmacy (ISCP) in a hybrid format on August 1, 2022.

Registration began at 8:00 AM WIB, followed by a Tor-Tor dance performance as the opening session. Welcoming remarks were delivered by the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, apt. Khairunnisa, S.Si., M.Pharm., Ph.D., and the Rector of USU, represented by the Director of Internationalization and Global Partnerships, Prof. Dr. Eng. Himsar Ambarita, S.T., M.T.

 

Before the presentations started, participants were shown the Faculty of Pharmacy USU profile video and the Universitas Sumatera Utara profile video.

The first lecture, titled "Ethnomedicinal Uses: Phytochemistry and Pharmacological Aspects," was delivered by an expert from Universiti Sains Malaysia, Roza Dianita, B.Pharm., M.Sc., Ph.D., and moderated by apt. Yuandani, S.Farm., M.Si., Ph.D.

The second lecture, titled "Herbal Medicine Business Potential," was presented by a professional practitioner from PT. Kimia Farma Tbk, Ratna Saptarina, and moderated by apt. M. Fauzan Lubis, S.Farm., M.Farm.

 

Each lecture session concluded with a 30-minute discussion where participants could ask questions about the topics presented by the lecturers and professionals.

The first day of the event concluded at 3:00 PM WIB. Before the closing, all participants took a post-test.
