The excitement colored 140 pharmacist candidates who will take the oath on October 5, 2017, which took place in the 2nd Floor Hall of the USU Faculty of Pharmacy Building. This happiness was further increased by the presence of parents and guardians of students who were present to witness their sons and daughters stepping into the world of the pharmacist profession.

The event was attended by Prof. Dr. dr. Muhammad Fidel Garis Siregar, M.Ked.(O.G.), Sp.O.G.(K.) (Vice Rector II USU), Prof. Dr. Masfria, M.S., Apt. (Dean of USU Faculty of Pharmacy), Dr. Aminah Dalimnthe, (Head of Pharmacist Education Program of USU Faculty of Pharmacy), Dra.Endang Adriyani, MARS, Apt (Representative of Indonesian Pharmacists Association), Dra Suzana Indah Astuti, MSI, Apt. (Member of National Pharmacy Committee).

In addition to these leaders, the ceremony was also attended by several guests of honor including the Head of the Regional Executive Board of the Indonesian Pharmacists Association of North Sumatra (represented by Drs. Djamidin Manurung, MM,. Apt.), Head of the North Sumatra Provincial Health Office (represented by dr. Kustinah, M.Kes.), Head of the Medan City Health Office (represented by Santi M. Manullang, S.Si.), Balai Besar Pengawas Pengawas Pengawas Apt, Apt.), Center for Food and Drug Control in Medan Yanti Agustini, S.Si., M.Kes., Apt., Kimia Farma Yurista Gilang, S.Farm., Apt.

Vice-Rector II of USU, in his remarks on the inauguration of pharmacists today, the USU Faculty of Pharmacy, since starting in 2006 until today, has inaugurated 2052 pharmacists. Thus, the number of pharmacists who have graduated from USU is 3216 pharmacists. 1174 who graduated as pharmacists when USU Pharmacy was still part of F. MIPA USU. Pharmacists are professionals who have the expertise and authority to carry out pharmaceutical practices, which include pharmaceutical supply control, observation, security, procurement, storage, and distribution of drugs.

According to Dra.Endang Adriyani, MARS, Apt, the inauguration and oath-taking of pharmacists who were inaugurated today were part of 3973 from 31 pharmacist study programs with 96.7% graduation. One of the inaugurations and oath-taking stipulated in the regulations of the Indonesian minister of health, in this case, is represented by the national pharmaceutical committee, the Indonesian Pharmacists Association, and the University of North Sumatra, representing as an educational institution. On this day also, the new pharmacist received all the documents to take care of the license to practice as a pharmacist following the Izajah from the Faculty of Pharmacy, the Certificate of Competence from the Indonesian Pharmacists Association, and the Oath and Pharmacist Registration Certificate from the National Pharmacy Committee.

Dra. Suzana Indah Astuti, M.Si, Apt. said that through the implementation of quality and standardized competency exams, it is hoped that competency exams can be held on an ongoing basis and are able to guarantee the production of competent pharmacist education graduates. In January 2018, UKAI CBT will apply for exit and exam, where prospective graduates can take the competency exam after they are declared to have completed the learning process; this is stated by a certificate from the dean.
