Medan, August 9, 2026 — The Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) once again demonstrated its contribution to supporting pharmaceutical education and the professional development of pharmacists in Indonesia. Two lecturers from the Faculty of Pharmacy USU, Hari Ronaldo Tanjung, S.Si., M.Sc., Apt., and Bayu Eko Prasetyo, S.Farm., M.Sc., Apt., were entrusted to serve as Supervisors at National Competency Examination Centers for the Pharmacist Professional Education Program (UKOMNAS PDPA) using the Computer-Based Test (CBT) method, held on Sunday, August 9, 2026.

During the UKOMNAS PDPA, Hari Ronaldo Tanjung, S.Si., M.Sc., Apt. served as the center supervisor at Institut Kesehatan Deli Husada, while Bayu Eko Prasetyo, S.Farm., M.Sc., Apt. served as the center supervisor at Universitas Sari Mutiara Indonesia.

The involvement of the two lecturers as supervisors reflects the trust placed in them and the Faculty of Pharmacy USU’s tangible contribution to supporting the national competency examination for prospective pharmacists. As part of the UKOMNAS PDPA implementation, supervisors play an important role in ensuring that the examination is conducted in an orderly, objective, professional, and compliant manner.

The implementation of UKOMNAS PDPA using the CBT method is also an important component in ensuring that prospective pharmacists meet established competency standards before entering pharmaceutical practice. A computer-based system supports a more structured competency evaluation process while requiring integrity and professionalism from all parties involved.

The presence of Faculty of Pharmacy USU lecturers as center supervisors at two health education institutions further expands USU’s academic contribution to improving the quality of pharmacist professional education at the national level. It also reflects the role of lecturers not only in education and research but also in supporting quality assurance systems and the development of healthcare professional competencies.

This activity is closely related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being. Competency examinations for prospective pharmacists are part of efforts to ensure that pharmaceutical professionals entering healthcare services possess adequate competencies, ultimately contributing to improved healthcare quality and patient safety.

The activity also supports SDG 4: Quality Education through a standardized and professional competency evaluation process. The involvement of lecturers as supervisors demonstrates the contribution of higher education institutions to ensuring the quality of professional education and developing competent healthcare human resources.

Furthermore, the activity aligns with SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals. The appointment of Faculty of Pharmacy USU lecturers as center supervisors at Institut Kesehatan Deli Husada and Universitas Sari Mutiara Indonesia reflects collaboration and partnership among higher education institutions in supporting the national competency examination. Such synergy is important for strengthening the pharmacist professional education system, maintaining competency standards, and jointly improving the quality of healthcare human resources in Indonesia.

The involvement of Hari Ronaldo Tanjung and Bayu Eko Prasetyo as UKOMNAS PDPA center supervisors demonstrates that lecturers from the Faculty of Pharmacy USU continue to play a strategic role in supporting the quality of pharmacist professional education and national health development. This contribution is expected to continue growing through collaboration among higher education institutions and various stakeholders to develop pharmacists who are professional, competent, and committed to integrity.
