The USU Faculty of Pharmacy held an audience with Dr. Pirngadi Hospital Medan on July 15, 2025, discussing collaboration in education, research, and clinical practice. The event also included an alumni donation as a contribution to enhancing healthcare services.

USU Pharmacy Public Relations – The Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), held an audience with Dr. Pirngadi General Hospital Medan. This event not only served as a platform to strengthen collaboration in education, research, and community service but also included the handover of a donation from the USU Faculty of Pharmacy alumni as a form of social concern for healthcare services in North Sumatra.

The audience was attended by the Vice Dean of the USU Faculty of Pharmacy along with faculty leaders, lecturers, and alumni representatives. From Dr. Pirngadi General Hospital, the Director and the hospital management team were also present.

The meeting discussed opportunities for collaboration between the USU Faculty of Pharmacy and Dr. Pirngadi Hospital in developing clinical pharmacy practice, conducting joint research, and enhancing the capacity of healthcare professionals. In addition to the discussions, the event also included the handover of a donation from the USU Faculty of Pharmacy alumni, aimed at supporting the hospital’s healthcare services.

The audience and donation handover took place on July 15, 2025, coinciding with the spirit of alumni solidarity. The event was held in the Meeting Room of Dr. Pirngadi General Hospital, a main referral hospital in Medan and a strategic partner of the USU Faculty of Pharmacy in clinical training and health research.

This audience was carried out to strengthen synergy between higher education institutions and healthcare service facilities. The USU Faculty of Pharmacy emphasized that collaboration with regional hospitals such as Dr. Pirngadi is essential to enrich student experiences, promote clinical pharmacy research, and enhance alumni contributions to society. The donation from alumni served as a symbol of care, solidarity, and tangible dedication to the community and health institutions.

The event began with a warm welcome from the Director of Dr. Pirngadi Hospital, who highlighted the importance of collaboration with universities. It was followed by an interactive discussion on concrete cooperation opportunities that could be realized soon. The highlight of the event was the symbolic handover of the donation from the USU Faculty of Pharmacy alumni to the hospital management, which was received directly by representatives of Dr. Pirngadi Hospital.

This activity supports several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):

  • SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being): improving healthcare quality through academic collaboration and practice.

  • SDG 4 (Quality Education): strengthening pharmaceutical education and training with hospitals as clinical partners.

  • SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities): expanding support and facilities for regional hospitals to ensure more equitable healthcare services.

  • SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals): strengthening strategic partnerships between universities, alumni, and healthcare institutions.

Through this initiative, the USU Faculty of Pharmacy hopes that the synergy of knowledge, experience, and social concern can move hand in hand, bringing real benefits to the healthcare sector and the wider community.
