HUMAS FARMASI USU – Universitas Sumatera Utara, through the Faculty of Pharmacy, reaffirmed its commitment to advancing scientific knowledge by organizing a National Webinar initiated by the Master’s and Doctoral Programs in Pharmaceutical Sciences. The event raises the theme “Opportunities and Challenges in Health Technology Assessment (HTA) and Pharmacoeconomic Research in Indonesia."
In this webinar, the organizing committee from the Master’s and Doctoral Programs in Pharmaceutical Sciences invited an expert speaker, Auliya A. Suwantika, who delivered an in-depth discussion on strategic issues related to HTA and pharmacoeconomics within Indonesia’s healthcare system. The webinar was held on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, through the Zoom Meeting platform, allowing participants from various regions to attend.
The organization of this webinar is driven by the importance of advancing research in Health Technology Assessment (HTA) and pharmacoeconomics to support effective and efficient healthcare policymaking. In the context of modern healthcare systems, HTA plays a crucial role in evaluating the benefits, costs, and impacts of health technologies, while pharmacoeconomics helps determine the optimal allocation of healthcare resources.
The webinar was conducted over two hours, from 09.00 to 11.00 WIB, featuring a presentation session by the speaker followed by an interactive discussion. The session was moderated by Hari Ronaldo Tanjung, who ensured a dynamic and informative discussion flow. Notably, the webinar was free of charge and open to the public, providing opportunities for students, academics, practitioners, and the general public to participate.
Furthermore, this activity contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through this scientific webinar, Universitas Sumatera Utara supports SDG 4 (Quality Education) by providing inclusive and knowledge-based learning opportunities. The topic is also closely related to SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), as HTA and pharmacoeconomics play important roles in improving the effectiveness of healthcare systems. Additionally, the webinar supports SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure) by strengthening research and innovation in the health sector and promotes SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through expanded academic collaboration.
Registration for the webinar was open until April 4, 2026, through the link provided by the committee. Through this event, participants were expected to enhance their understanding and insights into the crucial role of HTA and pharmacoeconomics in supporting a more effective, efficient, and sustainable healthcare system in Indonesia.
