USU Gemufamire Defile and Gymnastics Competition Welcomed with Enthusiasm

Various competitions held by the Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) in enlivening the 73rd Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia, which began on Wednesday (15/8), continued on Thursday (16/7), which was filled with defile competitions and Gemufamire gymnastics. The participants of the defile competition were released by the USU Rector, Prof. Dr. Runtung Sitepu, S.H,. M.Hum., accompanied by the Vice-Rectors, the University Secretariat, and the leaders of institutions and work units at USU, in the courtyard of the USU Central Administration Bureau Building.
The movement of the defile participants was even more lively with the musical accompaniment of the USU marching band group as well as the harps and chants of struggle songs sung by the defile participants. Some of the defile participants looked enthusiastic with various regional and international dresses, as well as other unique designs. One of them was what was displayed by the defile team from the USU Faculty of Cultural Sciences. The participants were seen wearing Chinese, Japanese, and other clothing tailored to the study programs in the faculty. Meanwhile, the defile team from the Asset and Business Management Bureau carried various work equipment that they used to use every day.
On the way around the USU campus, the defile participants chanted various uplifting chants, sang national songs and performed special attractions aimed at getting the best score for their respective teams. Team cohesiveness, distinctive attributes, clothing, and line neatness are elements that are assessed by the jury to determine the winner. Special attractions were also shown by each defile participant in front of the USU Rector and all ranks of the Rectorate after completing the travel route, located in the lobby of the USU Central Administration Bureau Building. The presence of the defile participants also attracted the attention of residents around the USU campus and those who were passing through the area. Not a few also captured the actions of the defile participants using their respective device cameras.
Apart from the defile, on the same day the Gemufamire Gymnastics competition was also held. This performance drew a lot of attention from USU employees and the academic community. The participants presented Gemufamire gymnastics in various forms of choreography and modifications of the original gymnastic movements. The choreography of opening and ending gymnastics is one of the two things that strengthen the judges' assessment of the teams that perform.
The winners of the defile competition were the first place team of the Laboratory of Basic and Natural Sciences (LIDA), the second place team of the Asset Maintenance and Development Bureau and the third place team of the Faculty of Public Health. While the winner of the Gemufamire gymnastics competition was the team from the USU Faculty of Dentistry, the second place was the USU Faculty of Public Health team and the third place was the USU Library team.
