The Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Sumatera Utara, hosted a TALENTA 2022 research grant proposal mentoring session on June 23, 2022, featuring speakers from USU’s Research Institute. This event aimed to guide lecturers and students in crafting proposals to increase grant acceptance rates.
The TALENTA 2022 research grant proposal mentoring session was held on Thursday, June 23, 2022, at 1:00 PM WIB in the second-floor meeting room of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU).
This session featured a speaker from USU’s Research Institute, Prof. Dr. Syafruddin Ilyas, M.Biomed., and was moderated by Lisda Rimayani Nasution, S.Farm., M.Si., Apt. The event was attended by the dean, vice deans, lecturers, and students participating in the Merdeka Belajar – Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) Research Program. MBKM is part of the Merdeka Belajar policy initiated by Indonesia’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology. This policy offers students opportunities to develop skills aligned with their talents and interests by directly engaging in real-world work environments as preparation for their future careers.
One of its flagship programs is the Independent Research Program, where students meeting specific research requirements can apply for the MBKM Research Program. Applications must include recommendations from Supervising Lecturers, approvals from Academic Advisors, and consent from their Study Program. Students involved in faculty research projects are eligible to receive up to 20 academic credits (SKS) aligned with their current semester coursework.
The Undergraduate Pharmacy Program at the Faculty of Pharmacy organized this mentoring session to assist interested lecturers and students in understanding the process of writing research grant proposals. The goal is to help participants advance to the next stages and, in turn, increase the number of successfully accepted grant proposals.
