In his inaugural speech, he highlighted the gastroretentive drug delivery system. According to him, oral administration of conventional drugs after reaching the absorption zone, which is mainly in the stomach and upper part of the small intestine, results in rapid drug release, in addition because the gastric emptying time is around 2-3 hours, which tends to cause the drug not to stay long in the stomach as a result will reduce the effect of drug delivery systems that last long in the stomach (gastroretentif) is very beneficial to increase the absorption of the drug administered, the drug will be released slowly and completely over a long time, as a result it will be able to increase the treatment effect and also reduce the side effects of the drug. The gastroretentive drug delivery system that is specific to the stomach is also favorable for prolonging the contact time between the antibiotic drug and Helicobacter Pyroli to achieve successful killing of the bacteria, thereby improving the treatment effect of peptic ulcer.
