The Faculty of Pharmacy USU held an online International Seminar on May 5, 2025, titled “Pharmacological Strategies Targeting STAT3 Transcription Factor in Cancer Therapy,” attended by Master’s and Doctoral students and featuring international experts.
USU PHARMACY PR – The Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), held an International Seminar for Master’s and Doctoral students on Monday, May 5, 2025, from 09:00 to 11:30 AM WIB (GMT+7, Jakarta Time), conducted online via a virtual conference platform.
This scientific event carried the theme “Pharmacological Strategies Targeting STAT3 Transcription Factor in Cancer Therapy.” The seminar served as an academic forum to discuss the latest pharmacological approaches in molecular-based cancer therapy.
The seminar was attended by postgraduate students (Master’s and Doctoral) from the Faculty of Pharmacy USU and featured international speakers from globally recognized academic and research institutions with expertise in pharmacology, oncology, and biotechnology. The online format enabled participation across regions and countries through a virtual conference platform.
The objectives of this event were to:
Enhance postgraduate students’ understanding of cancer therapy based on specific molecular targets such as STAT3.
Encourage the development of innovative research in the fields of pharmacy and biomedicine.
Expand international academic and research networks.
The seminar was conducted interactively, consisting of scientific presentations by keynote speakers, followed by discussion sessions between participants and presenters. Students were also given the opportunity to actively ask questions and respond to the material presented.
This activity supports several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including:
SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being): Promoting research and new knowledge in cancer therapy to improve public health quality.
SDG 4 (Quality Education): Providing access to high-quality, globally relevant higher education with a focus on scientific advancement.
SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure): Supporting innovation in pharmaceutical research applicable to the health and industrial sectors.
Through this seminar, postgraduate students of the Faculty of Pharmacy USU are expected to be better prepared to contribute to innovative therapeutic research that is globally relevant and impactful to public health.
