On Friday, September 14, 2018, the Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Sumatera Utara, held a Seminar & Workshop titled “Animal Handling & Analytical Sample Preparation in Pharmaceutical Research”. The event featured several speakers, including Prof. Dr. Syafruddin Ilyas, M.Biomed., Imam Bagus Sumantri, S.Si., M.Si., Apt., Embun Suci Nasution, S.Si., M.Farm., Klin., Apt., and Henny Sri Wahyuni, S.Farm., M.Si., Apt.
The event was attended and officially opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy USU, Prof. Dr. Masfria, M.S., Apt., and took place in the 2nd-floor auditorium of the Faculty of Pharmacy USU. In her opening speech, Prof. Dr. Masfria, M.S., Apt., explained that the “Animal Handling & Analytical Sample Preparation in Pharmaceutical Research” event is held annually by the Faculty of Pharmacy to provide lessons and knowledge for students preparing their research theses.
On this occasion, Bayu Eko Prasetyo, S.Farm., M.Sc., Apt., as the Committee Chair, stated that the event aimed to equip students with a thorough understanding of good laboratory practices for their research.
Bayu Eko Prasetyo also noted that the event was attended by 220 participants, consisting of 7 D3 students, 143 undergraduate (S1) students, and 70 students from the Pharmacist Professional Program. At the end of the event, students were divided into two groups for hands-on laboratory practice, which included determining solution concentrations.
