This seminar aims to gather researchers, scientists, experts, academics and students who are interested in disseminating, reporting and sharing their experiences, innovations, ideas, research results in the field of pharmaceutical and clinical research.

The seminar was attended by Prof. Dr. dr. Muhammad Fidel Ganis Siregar, M.Ked.(O.G.), Sp.O.G.(K.) (Vice Rector II of USU), Prof. Dr. Masfria, M.S., Apt. (Dean of Faculty of Pharmacy USU), Keynote speakers from several countries were also invited, including Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Jantan (Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia - Malaysia), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jansen Silalahi, M.AppSc., Apt., in his speech, that pharmaceutical research is a scientific discipline that focuses on the discovery and development of new drugs and therapies. Pharmaceutical research can be classified into several main categories, namely Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Analysis, Pharmaceutical Microbiology, Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics, Pharmaceutical Technology and Nanotechnology, and Nutrasetikal. Clinical research is the study of health and disease in humans. It is a way to learn how to prevent, diagnose, and cure diseases. Clinical research describes many elements of science investigation. Clinical trials, as well as research in medicine, prevention, diagnosis, screening, quality of life, epidemiology, physiology and pathophysiology, healthcare, clinical pharmacy, and pharma compliance, are phases of clinical trials that determine whether a drug is safe and effective.

Vice-Rector II of USU, in his speech, I am happy to see that nowadays, the field of pharmacy has been increasingly broad in exploring natural resources, developing new methods, and using technology by creating better pharmaceutical products that meet social needs such as high effectiveness and low side effects of pharmaceutical products. I hope that this seminar can create a better relationship between scientists, academic staff, practitioners, and participants in sharing inspiring pharmaceutical knowledge and fostering better attention in the field of pharmacy.

According to Prof. Dr. Masfria, M.S., Apt. in recent years, we have seen high progress in pharmaceutical and clinical research in developed and developing countries. This is related to economic progress, so medical personnel and scientists should always make meaningful contributions to achieve sustainable health care. I hope that all scientists and researchers can share ideas on the latest developments and innovations in pharmaceutical and clinical research during this conference to benefit participants from both Indonesia and abroad.
