On July 28, 2025, USU Faculty of Pharmacy and Poltekkes Kemenkes Medan signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA). This partnership covers education, research, and community service to enhance healthcare quality and human resource development.

USU Faculty of Pharmacy Public Relations — On Monday, July 28, 2025, the Faculty of Pharmacy at Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) officially signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Health Polytechnic of the Ministry of Health (Poltekkes Kemenkes) Medan. The event took place in the 2nd Floor Meeting Room of the USU Faculty of Pharmacy, in a warm and collaborative atmosphere between the two higher education institutions in the health sector.

This MoA signing represents a shared commitment to establishing cooperation in education, research, and community service, particularly in advancing pharmaceutical science and healthcare services. The scope of the agreement includes field internships, lecturer and expert exchanges, joint research and publications, and the development of competent and professional human resources.

The event was attended by leaders from both institutions. Representing the USU Faculty of Pharmacy was Dean Prof. Khairunnisa, S.Si., M.Pharm., Ph.D., Apt., along with vice deans and lecturers. From Poltekkes Kemenkes Medan, the Director and management team, along with faculty representatives, were also present. Their attendance signaled a strong intent to foster a strategic partnership in health education.

In her remarks, Prof. Khairunnisa stated that the collaboration would bring tangible benefits to enhancing the quality of pharmacy education. “We welcome this synergy as a step forward to prepare reliable healthcare professionals ready to serve the community,” she said.

The Director of Poltekkes Kemenkes Medan also expressed appreciation for the warm welcome from the Faculty of Pharmacy USU, hoping the MoA would soon be implemented through impactful programs.

The event, which began at 10:00 WIB, included a technical discussion session to explore collaborative initiatives to be implemented in the near future. The signing ceremony was followed by a discussion on priority program implementation plans. A formal yet engaging atmosphere reflected the enthusiasm of both parties in building a long-term academic partnership.

This collaboration is a strategic step to optimize the potential of both institutions—through human resources and educational infrastructure. It aims to broaden the horizons of students and educators, enhance joint research capacity, and produce academic outputs relevant to current healthcare challenges.

The initiative aligns with two key Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):

  • SDG 4: Quality Education, through improved teaching relevance, academic exchange, and professional training.

  • SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, through joint research and community service in healthcare to support evidence-based health services.

With this partnership, the USU Faculty of Pharmacy and Poltekkes Kemenkes Medan are expected to foster educational and healthcare innovations that support community welfare and sustainable development.
