The Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), held a Workshop on “Portfolio Creation and E-Learning-Based Learning Development” on Thursday, October 30, 2025, as part of its efforts to enhance lecturers’ digital teaching quality and strengthen technology-based educational transformation.

USU FACULTY OF PHARMACY PR — In an effort to improve the quality of innovative learning processes and adapt to advancements in educational technology, the Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) organized a Workshop titled “Portfolio Creation and E-Learning-Based Learning Development” on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at the 2nd Floor Meeting Room, Faculty of Pharmacy, USU. The event took place from 08:30 to 12:00 WIB and was attended by lecturers and academic staff of the faculty.

 

 

This workshop served as a capacity-building initiative for lecturers to develop professional and interactive learning portfolios while strengthening the implementation of e-learning systems to support modern teaching at the Faculty of Pharmacy.
The materials discussed included:

  • Preparation of learning portfolios based on lecturer performance indicators (BKD & OBE).

  • Utilization of USU’s e-learning platform and digital technology to design interactive learning materials.

  • Strategies to enhance student engagement in online learning.

 

 

The workshop aimed to enable lecturers to produce technology-based lesson plans, teaching materials, and assessments aligned with modern higher education standards.

The activity was organized by the Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Sumatera Utara, with the support of the faculty leadership and the academic development team. Participants consisted of lecturers and teaching staff from the faculty, while the speakers were experts in digital learning and experienced managers of USU’s e-learning system who specialize in designing interactive and technology-integrated learning frameworks.

 

 

The workshop was held at the 2nd Floor Meeting Room of the Faculty of Pharmacy, which was equipped with supporting facilities such as a projector, stable internet connection, and computers for hands-on practice. The event ran actively and interactively, where participants not only received theoretical material but also practiced digital portfolio creation and conducted simulations on e-learning content management.

 

 

This activity demonstrated the Faculty of Pharmacy’s commitment to continually improving teaching quality and supporting digital transformation within higher education. Through mastery of learning technology, lecturers are expected to:

  • Adapt to the changing learning paradigms in the digital era.

  • Develop engaging and accessible teaching materials for students.

  • Support Outcome-Based Education (OBE) goals and portfolio-based assessment.

  • Strengthen academic performance documentation and professional integrity.

 

 

The workshop was conducted through an interactive approach, including:

  • A presentation session from the speakers on the fundamental concepts of digital learning portfolios.

  • Group discussions for sharing experiences among lecturers on developing online learning content.

  • Hands-on simulation sessions using the USU e-learning system to upload, organize, and evaluate digital learning materials.

  • A Q&A and reflection session where participants shared challenges and solutions in implementing e-learning in their respective classes.

 

 

The workshop atmosphere was warm and collaborative, fostering a spirit of lifelong learning among all participants.

This initiative also supports several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):

  • SDG 4: Quality Education — By enhancing lecturers’ capacity in designing digital learning, the activity promotes inclusive, equitable, and high-quality education.

  • SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure — The adoption of technology-based e-learning encourages innovation in the learning system and strengthens technology-driven academic infrastructure.

  • SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals — Through collaboration among the faculty, e-learning unit, and professional experts, the workshop reinforces networks and partnerships to improve higher education quality at USU.

Through this workshop, every lecturer at the Faculty of Pharmacy, USU, is expected to develop a systematic and representative digital learning portfolio and effectively integrate technology into their teaching process. With this, the Faculty of Pharmacy, USU, is increasingly ready to face the challenges of digital learning and to play an active role in realizing higher education that is excellent, innovative, and globally competitive.
