USU PHARMACY PR - The Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Sumatera Utara has held a Seminar and Workshop on Handling Cancer Drugs (Handling Cytotoxic) on Friday (14/10). The workshop took place from 09.00 WIB until completion in the 2nd Floor Hall of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Sumatera Utara.
This workshop is specifically for students of the USU Pharmacist Professional Education Study Program and is guided by the Secretary of the Pharmacist Professional Education Study Program, Henny Sri Wahyuni, S.Farm., M.Si., Apt. as moderator. This event presented two speakers: 1. Apt. Yuliana, S.Farm., USU Hospital Pharmacist 2. Apt. Rima Elfitra Rambe, S.Farm., M.Farm., Head of Pharmacy Installation
This seminar and workshop was intended to provide an overview to the Pharmacist Professional Education Study Program students about how to handle cancer drugs. Students learned about cytotoxic handling, starting from the clothes used, the tools used, hygiene, and regulations related to the handling. In addition, students are also given the opportunity to mix their own drugs, but still with the supervision of pharmacist practitioners from USU Hospital. They learned how to open vials, infusions, techniques for breaking ampoules, techniques for taking drugs from vials using syringes, provisions for needle direction, and how to mix drugs.
Things like this need to be learned and practiced by students of the Pharmacist Professional Education Study Program from practitioners directly, so that they are precise in using tools and handling drugs.
