Pharmacist Profession Education Study Program

The Pharmacist Profession Education Study Program at Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) is an advanced program after completing the Undergraduate Program in Pharmacy, with the aim of obtaining the title of Pharmacist (Apt.).

With a commitment to provide quality and character-oriented pharmacist professional education with a spirit of democratization, this program is able to produce graduates who have high quality and integrity. The students are trained to conduct research that is innovative, competitive, and beneficial to society as well as contributing to the development of pharmaceutical science. They are assisted by outstanding lecturers who have national teaching certifications. The program focuses on pharmaceutical science in both clinical and industrial fields, so that prospective graduates have career opportunities as pharmacists and researchers in various government and private institutions.

History

1969

The Pharmacist Profession Study Program (PSPA) is a professional education program for pharmacists after graduating from an undergraduate program to obtain expertise with the title of pharmacist. The existence of PSPA at the USU Faculty of Pharmacy began with the opening of the Pharmacy Study Program in 1969 at the USU Faculty of Exact Sciences and Natural Sciences (FIPIA).

1982

In 1982, the USU Faculty of Exact Sciences and Natural Sciences (FIPIA) changed to the USU Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA). At that time, there was no separation between the Undergraduate Program in Pharmacy and the Pharmacist Profession Education Program. Students who graduated from the Undergraduate Program in Pharmacy with the title Drs/Dra (now S.Farm) can continue to the Pharmacist level while still using the same Student Identification Number.

2011

On January 26, 2011, the Pharmacist Profession Education Program (P3A) of the USU Faculty of Pharmacy received an operational permit from the Ministry of National Education through Decree No. 26/D/0/2011 concerning the Implementation of the Pharmacist Profession Education Study Program at Universitas Sumatera Utara in Medan, so since then P3A has changed its name to the Pharmacist Profession Education Study Program (PSPA).

2012

On February 3, 2012, the Pharmacist Profession Education Study Program obtained an A Accreditation based on the Decree of the Directorate General of Higher Education of the Ministry of National Education of the Republic of Indonesia No. 001/BAN-PT/Ak-I/PSPAVII/2012.

Students Organization

Himpunan Mahasiswa Farmasi MagnaConsilium (HMF-MC)

Himpunan Mahasiswa Farmasi MagnaConsilium (English: MagnaConsilium Pharmacy Student Association), abbreviated as HMF-MC US, is a student organization as an executive institution at the Undergraduate Program level within the Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Sumatera Utara. HMF-MC USU is also a permanent member of the Indonesian Pharmacy Student Senate Association (ISMAFARSI). HMF USU was established in 2009-2011. At the inauguration of the new chairman and management on Friday, March 09, 2012, in Medan, HMF USU officially changed its name to Himpunan Mahasiswa Farmasi-MagnaConsilium Universitas Sumatera Utara (HMF-MC USU). This event aimed to formalize and introduce the new name and logo, now known as the Himpunan Mahasiswa Farmasi MagnaConsilium USU (HMF-MC USU). Why Magna Consilium? "Because Magna means big and Consilium together in Greek. This means raising the name of Pharmacy together."

Badan Eksekutif Mahasiswa Fakultas Farmasi (BEM FF) USU

The Badan Eksekutif Mahasiswa Fakultas Farmasi USU (English: Student Executive Board of the USU Faculty of Pharmacy), abbreviated as BEM FF USU, is a student government organized by pharmacy students that was formed in 2006 within the USU Faculty of Pharmacy.
