The Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Sumatera Utara, collaborates with the North Sumatra Department of Women's Empowerment, Child Protection, and Family Planning to support community engagement through the Kelas Perempuan Mandiri Berbudaya (Kelapa Muda) program. This partnership aims to create women-friendly, child-conscious villages and boost local economies.

USU PHARMACY PR – The Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Sumatera Utara, held a Coordination and Synchronization Meeting with the North Sumatra Department of Women's Empowerment, Child Protection, and Family Planning on Friday, January 31, 2025, at 9:00 AM WIB. The meeting took place at the department's office.

 

 

The coordination meeting resulted in several agreements, including:

Faculty members from all partner institutions collaborating with the North Sumatra Department of Women's Empowerment, Child Protection, and Family Planning may select several partners from the Kelas Perempuan Mandiri Berbudaya (Kelapa Muda) Sumut program for their community service initiatives.

 

 

Expected Benefits of This Collaboration

  1. Establishing women-friendly and child-conscious villages.

  2. Developing strategies to prevent child marriage.

  3. Reducing the number of child laborers.

  4. Strengthening women's institutional roles in villages.

  5. Providing initial response mechanisms for cases of violence in villages.

  6. Enhancing the downstream process of local products by:

    • Improving packaging to be more attractive.

    • Registering for halal certification and BPOM (Indonesia’s Food and Drug Authority).

    • Marketing products through e-commerce platforms such as Shopee and other marketplaces to boost the village economy.

 

The Kelas Perempuan Mandiri Berbudaya (Kelapa Muda) Sumut program includes various villages across the following regions: Deli Serdang, Gunungsitoli, Batubara, Labuhanbatu, South Tapanuli, Karo, Central Tapanuli, Humbang Hasundutan, and Padang Sidempuan.

This collaboration is expected to bring significant benefits to the community and all involved stakeholders.
