Celebrating World Pharmacists Day, PD IAI and the Faculty of Pharmacy at Universitas Sumatera Utara organized a social service event in six areas of Medan City on September 23, 2021. Activities included health education, pharmacist consultations, and distribution of groceries, medicines, and masks.

In celebration of World Pharmacists Day, the Regional Board of the Indonesian Pharmacists Association (PD IAI) and the Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Sumatera Utara, held a social service event in several areas of Medan City on Thursday, September 23, 2021.

Six areas were chosen as locations for the social service: Medan Johor, Medan Denai, Medan Helvetia, Medan Marelan, Medan Tembung, and Medan Area.

The coordinator for this social service activity was Mr. Panal Sitorus, with Mrs. Armiaty serving as secretary. The entire team was divided into six groups based on the number of areas visited. Each team consisted of 18–22 members, including PD IAI members, lecturers from the Faculty of Pharmacy USU, members of the Indonesian Young Pharmacist Group (IYPG), students of the Faculty of Pharmacy USU, members of the Indonesian Pharmacy Student Senate Association (Ismafarsi), and members of the Community Pharmacy Interest Group (Hisfarma).

The activities included education on medication use and self-isolation during the pandemic. Additionally, community members were given the opportunity to consult directly with pharmacists.

The social service teams also distributed basic necessities, such as groceries, medicines, supplements/vitamins, and masks.

The involvement of lecturers from the Faculty of Pharmacy USU in this activity was also part of the Faculty’s anniversary celebration, focusing on community service. The lecturers distributed pocket guides on COVID-19 management and self-isolation instructions, provided information, and offered direct consultations to the community.
