The Oath-Taking Ceremony for the 31st Batch of Pharmacists at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Sumatera Utara, was successfully held. All new pharmacists are ready to contribute to healthcare development with professionalism.
The 31st batch of students from the Professional Pharmacist Education Program has completed approximately one year of education and successfully passed competency exams using CBT and OSCE methods. This marks the conclusion of their education. Today, Friday (25/03/22), the students officially took their oath as pharmacists, symbolizing their readiness to actively contribute to healthcare development.
The ceremony was held at the 2nd-floor auditorium of the Faculty of Pharmacy USU and was broadcast via Zoom Meeting and the Faculty’s YouTube channel. Attendees included the students taking the oath, the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy USU, Vice Deans, the Head and Secretary of the Program, professors, and lecturers. Also in attendance were the Rector of Universitas Sumatera Utara, the Advisory Board of the Faculty of Pharmacy USU, the Chairperson of the National Pharmacy Committee, the Head of the Health Workforce Registration Division, the Chairperson of the Indonesian Pharmacists Association or representative, the Head of the North Sumatra Provincial Health Office or representative, the Head of Medan’s Food and Drug Monitoring Agency or representative, the Regional Chairperson of the Indonesian Pharmacists Association for North Sumatra or representative, the Director of RSUP H. Adam Malik Medan or representative, the Director of RSUD Dr. Pirngadi Medan or representative, the Business Manager of PT. Kimia Farma Apotek or representative, and religious leaders.
The ceremony was officially opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy USU, apt. Khairunnisa, S.Si., M.Pharm., Ph.D. The pharmacist oath was led by the National Pharmacy Committee and followed by all pharmacist candidates, accompanied by religious leaders of various faiths.
According to the Head of the Professional Pharmacist Education Program, apt. Dadang Irfan Husori, S.Si., M.Sc., the UKAI for the Odd Semester of Academic Year 2021/2022 had 84 participants, with 65 graduates achieving a passing rate of 84.93%. All 65 graduates participated in the oath-taking ceremony, consisting of 45 Muslims, 11 Protestants, 6 Catholics, and 3 Buddhists. A perfect GPA of 4.00 was achieved by four students: Olomarina Batubara, Nurul Husna, Sherly Haryantio, and Yessy Ayu Claudia Sebayang. The highest competency exam score of 80.50 was achieved by Rezeki Deni Himawan.
Following the oath-taking ceremony, apt. Rezeki Deni Himawan, S.Farm., the top scorer, delivered a speech on behalf of the new pharmacists. Drs. apt. Tamzil Ridha, M.M., representing the Indonesian Pharmacists Association, emphasized the importance of maintaining competency through SKP achievements, which can be monitored via the SIAP application, and the validity of the Pharmacist Registration Certificate (STRA). He underlined that maintaining professional competency is integral to career sustainability.
Dr. Faiq Bahfen, S.H., from the National Pharmacy Committee, reminded the new pharmacists of their professional obligation to contribute to healthcare development actively. He emphasized that the most important aspects of this profession include not promising cures, adhering to professional standards, demonstrating professionalism, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals.
The Rector of Universitas Sumatera Utara, Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si., in his video message, stated that the pharmacy profession requires high-level skills and active collaboration with other healthcare professionals. He highlighted the importance of pharmacists providing scientific information related to drugs and their interactions to other healthcare workers. He reminded the new pharmacists to fulfill their professional oath and embrace lifelong learning by keeping up with technological advancements.
