The Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Sumatera Utara, signed a cooperation agreement with Deli Husada and Medistra Health Institutes to strengthen education, research, and community service in pharmaceutical sciences.

PHARMACY USU PR –  The Faculty of Pharmacy of Universitas Sumatera Utara, the Faculty of Pharmacy of Institut Kesehatan Deli Husada Deli Tua, and the Faculty of Pharmacy of Institut Kesehatan Medistra Lubuk Pakam signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at the Faculty of Pharmacy, USU.

This agreement aims to foster synergy in the fields of education, research, and community service, particularly in pharmaceutical sciences. The three institutions agreed to implement joint programs that include academic exchange, collaborative research, training, and socio-health initiatives.

The collaboration involves three higher education institutions with a shared focus on pharmacy: the Faculty of Pharmacy USU, the Faculty of Pharmacy of Institut Kesehatan Deli Husada, and the Faculty of Pharmacy of Institut Kesehatan Medistra. The signing ceremony was held on May 8, 2025, at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Sumatera Utara, Medan.

This partnership represents a tangible effort to improve the quality of human resources in the pharmaceutical sector and to address global challenges in healthcare services. Furthermore, this initiative aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly:

  • SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being): Improving access to quality health education and strengthening healthcare workers.

  • SDG 4 (Quality Education): Promoting higher education collaboration to deliver inclusive and quality learning.

  • SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals): Strengthening inter-institutional partnerships to support sustainable development.

Under this MoA, the institutions will carry out various activities such as scientific seminars, workshops, student and faculty exchanges, joint research, and community service programs. Each institution will establish an implementation team to ensure that all programs are well-executed and have sustainable impact.

This collaboration is expected to be a concrete step toward strengthening academic capacity and the professionalism of pharmacy graduates, while contributing to inclusive and sustainable health development in Indonesia.
