The USU Faculty of Pharmacy will hold a National Pharmacist Seminar with the theme “Handling Cytotoxic & High Alert Product Management” on August 28, 2025. This seminar aims to enhance pharmacists’ academic and professional capacity through lectures, panel discussions, and Q&A sessions with clinical pharmacy, oncology, and hospital pharmacy management experts.

USU Faculty of Pharmacy Public Relations – The Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), will hold a National Pharmacist Seminar with the theme “Handling Cytotoxic & High Alert Product Management” on Thursday, August 28, 2025. The seminar is scheduled to take place at the second-floor hall of the USU Faculty of Pharmacy, starting at 08:00 WIB until completion.

This seminar is initiated by the USU Faculty of Pharmacy as part of its commitment to enhance the academic and professional capacity of pharmacists in Indonesia. The event will feature speakers from clinical pharmacy, oncology, and hospital pharmacy management, who will deliver materials on the management of cytotoxic drugs and high alert medications.

Cytotoxic and high alert medications are categories of drugs with a high risk to patient safety if not managed properly. Therefore, the seminar aims to:

  • Provide a thorough understanding of high-risk drug handling procedures.

  • Train participants in management practices that comply with international safety standards.

  • Serve as a continuous learning platform for students and pharmacy practitioners.

The seminar is designed with lectures, panel discussions, and Q&A sessions. Participants will have the opportunity to interact directly with experts, thereby broadening their knowledge and skills in managing high-risk medications in healthcare settings.

This activity supports the achievement of several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including:

  • SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being): ensuring health and well-being through safe pharmacy services.

  • SDG 4 (Quality Education): providing access to quality education for students and professionals.

  • SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure): promoting innovation in hospital pharmacy management systems.

  • SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals): strengthening collaboration networks among pharmacy and healthcare professionals.

With this seminar, the USU Faculty of Pharmacy hopes to make a tangible contribution to improving the quality of the pharmacist profession while reinforcing the role of higher education institutions in producing competent, professional, and globally-ready healthcare personnel.
